CPRE local and mayoral election manifesto 2021

With 2021 local elections fast approaching, now is the time to ask those who aspire to be our councillors and mayors what they will do to protect the countryside if they are elected.

This manifesto identifies four priority areas where local councillors and mayors can:

• promote countryside solutions to the climate emergency
• create a planning system that works for people, nature and the environment
• develop a comprehensive bus network for rural communities
• urge central government to introduce an ‘all-in’ Deposit Return Scheme for drinks containers
